Vegan Sausages Are In High Demand

British meat company HECK has launched a new gluten-free, vegan sausage range, which are now available in Asda and Waitrose stores.

The products are certified by both the Vegan and the Vegetarian Society and use whole food ingredients, such as vegetables, pea flour and seeds.

As they are predominately vegetable-based, they provide a good source of protein and are low in fat.

The Bollywood Bangers, made with cauliflower, pulses, lentils, and seeds, and contain 4.9 grams of protein per serving.

The range includes four flavours inspired by different cuisines: Bollywood Bangers, Sweet Fusion Veggie Bangers, Super Greens Bangers and The Beet Goes On.

Vegan products are increasing in popularity, especially the ‘bleeding burgers’ which are made with beetroot.

Along with Heck, many other companies include plant-based sausages in their product range, such as the Vegetarian Butcher, Linda McCartney, Tofurkey and Field Roast.

Beyond Meat, who created The Beyond Burger, has also launched the Beyond Sausage, which is widely available in the US.
