Sainsbury’s to Launch cultured tempeh ‘Ribz’

One of the UK’s leading supermarkets announced yesterday that they will be launching a new product – vegan ‘ribz’.

As we prepare for BBQ season, Sainsbury’s have announced the arrival of Plant Power’s Sweet ‘n’ Smoky Veggie Ribz.

cultured tempeh

Made from cultured tempeh originating from Indonesia, the saucy plant-based product follows the launch of their marinated curry-flavoured tempeh, that hit the shelves of Sainsbury’s earlier this year.

Tempeh is a meat-substitute made from fermented soya beans and is a great source of plant-based protein, as well as being high in fibre. Not only that, but these ‘Ribz’ take just 15 minutes to cook and can be microwaved, making them the ideal go-to dish, not just for a BBQ, but as a quick and convenient lunch or dinner.

The founder of Plant Power has commented saying:

“We want to make the plant based lifestyle as convenient as it is delicious, so we’re really excited to be stocking our Sweet ‘n’ Smoky Veggie Ribz at Sainsbury’s. Made from tempeh, our BBQ Ribz not only taste sensational but have some great nutritional benefits too – we can’t wait to hear what customers think this summer! We’ve been overwhelmed with the demand for our range of tempeh since we launched Plant Power into the mainstream market this year.”

Retailing at £4, the Sweet ‘n’ Smoky Veggie Ribz will be available in 450 of Sainsbury’s stores from the 15th May.
