Popular sandwich chain launch Meatless Meatball Marinara
Following a successful trial and huge customer demand, Subway has turned its iconic sub sandwich, ‘The Meatball Marinara’, into a plant-based option.
Now everyone, whether they’re completely meat-free or are simply looking for a plant-based alternative, can enjoy the popular subway option.
Country director Subway® UK & Ireland, Colin Hughes, commented: “We’re always shaking up our menu at Subway as we are constantly innovating. Our guests wanted a meatless version of our iconic Sub, so we made it for them! The Meatless Meatball Marinara is equally as delicious as the original, and a tempting choice for all our guests, whether they are looking for a plant-based alternative, or simply want to enjoy something a little different.”
Promising to be as delicious as its non-vegan counterpart, the new sub is packed full of Meatless Meatballs that are smothered in their original Marinara sauce then topped with melted dairy-free cheese.
The Meatless Meatball Marinara joins an expanding line up of meat-free options at Subway including the Vegan Sub, wrap, salad and hash browns.
As usual, customers can customise their sandwiches with Subway’s vegan-friendly Garlic Aioli, Sriracha Hot Chilli or Sweet Onion and any combination of the crunchy salads, too.
Head of communications international at Veganuary, Toni Vernelli, also commented: “Veganuary is creating a new wave of consumers with strong ethics and a big appetite! This is a real opportunity for businesses to improve and expand their plant-based offerings for the growing meat-free audience. We’re delighted that Subway has risen to this challenge – helping people who are avoiding meat to still enjoy the food they love – we can’t wait to try their new Meatless Meatball Marinara!”
The new Meatless Meatball Marinara will be available in Subway stores nationwide from 2nd January.
