Pret a Manger embraces vegan crowd with first plant-based Christmas sandwich

Chain eatery Pret a Manger has unveiled its Christmas 2016 menu – and it’s available from today.

The range includes the vegan Christmas baguette – Pret’s first ever vegan Christmas sandwich. The crispy baguette is stuffed with carrots, parsnip puree, crispy onions, festive chutney, and toasted pistachios.

This vegan offering follows a drive by the brand to embrace non-meat eaters. The store opened a pop-up veggie branch in central London this summer – which is now going to be open indefinitely.

Following the success of Veggie Pret, CEO Clive Schlee wrote: “Pret’s goal is to encourage meat eaters to try more veggie food by making sure it looks and tastes better. I know from experience in cooking at home that this isn’t easy. Our chefs seem to be getting it right because anecdotally over 50 per cent of customers at Veggie Pret say they are regular meat eaters.
