The supermarket chain have announced that they will be launching a new burger
Supermarket giants Waitrose have revealed that they will be adding to their ever-expanding selection of plant-based products.
The new burger is made from a combination of protein-rich seitan and mushrooms with an intense smoky flavour, making it the perfect addition to meat-free barbecues.
The vegetarian and vegan product developer for Waitrose & Partners, Simona Cohen-Vida commented: “We are really excited to be launching the first seitan burger. The modern barbecue is an inclusive affair with delicious products catering to all tastes and demands, and we are thrilled to be able to offer a fantastic selection of vegan options.”
Demand for more plant-based products has grown significantly as searches for vegan barbecue products are up by 175 per cent. On the Waitroses’ website, vegan burger searches have risen by 86 per cent, and seitan searches have increased by 148 per cent.
