Vegan options make way onto another menu

The Real Greek launches limited edition vegan specials in celebration of ‘cleansing’ Greek lent

Modern Mediterranean restaurant group, The Real Greek this month launches its first all-vegan specials, featuring three new dishes in celebration of Greek lent Sarakosti – commencing with ‘clean Monday’ on February 27.

Sarakosti is a Greek custom, which sees those that follow it hold back from meat, fish and alcohol to cleanse both the body and mind. During the 40-day ‘Greek lent,’ the focus is on eating ‘cleansing’ vegan and vegetarian dishes.

In light of this, the three new dishes have been assembled by face of The Real Greek Tonia Buxton, include: mouth-watering spicy roast aubergine with chickpeas slow-cooked with cherry tomatoes, chilli and dill, wholesome baked butter beans gigandes plaki with spinach, and scrumptious aubergine and potato stack with a rich garlic tomato sauce.

The Veg-iterranean Menu will be available from February 27 to April 15.

Christos Karatzenis, head of operations at The Real Greek, said: “Greek culture has always taken a healthy, fresh approach to food, and this period is the perfect time to reflect on Greek lent, Sarakosti, and update The RealGreek’s specials with fresh vegan dishes. Our new Veg-iterranean specials are not only made with lots of Greek love, most importantly they taste absolutely delicious – Kali Orexi!”
