Vegan chocolatiers Doisy & Dam launch dark choc truffles in home compostable wrappers
Smoother-than-smooth truffles from Doisy & Dam, are now housed in home compostable foil wrappers
Vegan consumers with a sweet tooth are set to be delighted: Premium dark chocolate confectioners Doisy & Dam have debuted their dark chocolate Truffles, newly housed in NatureFlex™ home compostable foil wrappers. This packaging breaks down in eight to 12 weeks – allowing the product to return to nature, in a safe and non-toxic way.
The truffles – a reimagining of a ‘well-known classic’ with a melt-in-the-mouth centre encased in a chocolate shell – were originally launched as a festive special, but due to exceeding customer demand, with Doisy & Dam selling 10,000 boxes in their first three months of launch, the chocolates are now available all year round.
Like all Doisy & Dam products, the Truffles are vegan, palm oil-free and oozing with chocolatey goodness (Doisy & Dam are also a B-Corp certified company!). With a sustainable approach to snacking, the range is also available in bulk for zero-waste stores or bakeries.
Natureflex Home Compostable Packaging
The new packaging in the spotlight is NatureFlex™ – a range of specialty packaging films developed by Futamura.
In a statement sent to Vegan Trade Journal, Clare McKeown from Futamura who developed the material, said: “We are delighted to see Doisy & Dam selecting metallised NatureFlex as their twist-wrap material.”
“Very small format packaging films such as confectionery twist-wrap are highly unlikely to be mechanically recycled in the foreseeable future. Using NatureFlex home compostable films means that the wrappers can simply go straight into the garden compost bin, diverting waste from landfill.”
Currently, Doisy & Dam Truffles are stocked at doisyanddam.com, Holland and Barrett and Amazon (£5.50 for 1x114G box).
