Vegan Chocolate Market Expected to Grow Rapidly

The vegan food sector is considered a big trend at the moment and included in this is the vegan chocolate market, with millennials responsible for the growth. The report showed that millennials in particular are buying the bulk of their items online, which is a large factor of the vegan chocolate market growth.

The report says that the “the vegan food market is considered niche in the industry but the increase in the awareness of animal cruelty by the various animal rights group have made vegan food popular which have resulted in a number of people turning vegan thus consolidating the market size and projecting it into the mainstream.

Health is contributing factor as more people are turning to a plant based lifestyle and cacao is a good source of iron and magnesium. The perception that vegan food is healthier is leading to an increase in veganism, alongside the usual ethical and environmental concerns associated with the dairy industry.

Lactose intolerance is an identified part of the vegan chocolate growth, with 75 per cent of the world’s population unable to digest lactose properly. As companies are unlikely to remove the lactose in the dairy milk used for the chocolate production, the new flavours and the strengths of vegan chocolate on the market has grown.
