US brand Seva Foods has unveiled freeze-dried vegan ice cream, and described the product as a world first. The product called Space Ice Kream and available in vanilla and strawberry flavours, and it’s designed to be a convenience snack.
The product was influenced by 1960s Apollo space mission food, the freeze-dried ice cream is coconut and cashew based and served in small bite-sized nuggets. It is minimally processed and freeze-dried to retain ‘optimal nourishment’.
On the company website in a statement, Seva Foods said: “We were founded with the intention of promoting love and compassion through nourishment, and the belief that food can be a potent form of activism. Our commitment to sustainable ingredients and practices means crafting products that are good for our bodies and the planet. By crafting products made only with plant based ingredients, we hope to improve the world for all animals.”
