Supermarkets Are Stocking More Vegan Products To Reach Demand

Supermarket giant Tesco has recently dubbed the vegan lifestyle the fastest growing culinary trend of 2018, in support of the launch of their new plant-based products in their Wicked Kitchen range.

More consumers are opting for plant-based products, and are choosing to branch away from the traditional ‘meat with every meal’ mindset.

With this being said, it is understandable that more supermarkets are catering to consumers needs, by stocking vegan products.

Waitrose has also spotted this upwards trend, as last week they announced almost 30 new plant-based food products.

Chilled Vegan and Vegetarian Buyer Chloe Graves of supermarket Waitrose says: “We are thrilled to be expanding our own-label vegan and vegetarian offering with such a wide range of dishes and ingredients.

“Our newest range is aimed to make eating delicious tasting vegetarian and vegan food even more simple and enjoyable!”

Reducing the amount of meat and dairy in your diet is known as flexitarianism, which is also on the rise due to more consumers choosing to eat less meat and dairy.

Kate Ewart, Product Development Director at Tesco comments: “We know from our own data that flexitarianism is on the rise and many more customers are dabbling in cutting out meat for a day or so during their weekly diet.”
