Plant Based Foods Association Staff Numbers Grow to Meet Demand

The Plant Based Foods Association staff numbers have grown to meet the consumer demand for vegan food. They have a new board member, three additional staff and an advisory team. Good Karma Food CEO Doug Radi is the new sixth member of the PBFA’s board of directors, with a passion and skills in leading a plant based business.

Additional members of staff vary in their skill-set, from media and PR, nutrition, marketing, fundraising, legal and food service. Haven Bourque, who works in the field of media and PR said: “Plant based foods are a clear answer to many questions confronting American eaters today. As a communications professional and long-term advocate of sustainable food I’m honoured to become an advisory team member to this important organization, which is becoming a powerful force for food system change.”

Sapna Thottathil, who’s expertise are in food service said: “I am excited to support the Plant Based Foods Association in helping so many innovative companies that are offering exciting new foods to consumers who are increasingly demanding healthier and more sustainable options in the marketplace.”

Executive Director PBFA Michele Simon said: “I am thrilled we are increasing our staff and board while adding a top-notch advisory team to better serve our members.” Michele added: “PBFA’s expansion is a sure sign that the future of the plant based foods industry is bright.”

Current members of staff include Jaime Athos, the CEO of The Tofurky Company, Martin Kruger from Follow Your Heart. They describe their mission as “To ensure a fair and competitive marketplace for businesses selling plant based foods intended to replace animal products such as meats, dairy and eggs, by promoting policies and practices that improve conditions in the plant based foods industry, and educating consumers about the benefits of plant based foods.”
