Pizza Hut launching vegan cheese across UK

Back in September, it was announced that five Pizza Hut stores would be trialling a vegan pizza topped with vegan cheese for the first time. The trial took place at Canterbury, Crawley, Thanet, Bluewater and Chatham, running throughout October and November and finished yesterday (Sun 26th November).

The trial was considered a success, with demand for vegan options surpassing expectations. Thus, Pizza Hut will be rolling this cheese out to its restaurants nationwide.

According to one employee, the new vegan pizza will only currently be available in restaurant stores and not necessarily at takeaway premises.

Pizza Hut will use vegan brand Violife’s Cheddar-style cheese to top their vegan pizzas and it is thought that opting for the dairy-free cheese will cost an extra £1.

The pizza chain has been left behind by rivals in terms of vegan options, with Pizza Express, Zizzi and Ask Italian all already offering vegan pizzas topped with non-dairy cheese for vegan consumers and the growing number of flexitarians in the UK.
