Meat-free giants Linda McCartney’s is adding more vegan products to its range as it prepares for Christmas. Perhaps the most exciting of the new products is the Vegetarian Beef Roast with Red Wine & Shallot Glaze.
The product, which will be available from Sainsbury’s from 20th August and RRP at £2.00, provides a new option for vegans looking for an easy option for their festive dinner this Christmas. Though it will in fact be available year-round, meaning that for any special occasion, or even just for Sunday roast, a new option is now available to consumers.
In addition to this new roast, other additions to the range (in preparation for the party season) include buffet-style snacks like cocktail sausages, chorizo cocktail sausages and ‘beef’, mushroom and spinach wellington bites. Marketed as “the perfect party canape for a special occasion”, the wellington bites and chorizo cocktail sausages will be available from Sainsbury’s with the regular cocktail sausages being sold in Tesco and Asda. All will retail at £2.00 per pack.
The new releases show the confidence that the company has in the growing vegan market. Last year, research from Vegan Life Magazine and The Vegan Society showed there to be over half a million vegans in the UK, up 350 per cent from 10 years ago.
