Vegan celeb and businessperson Kat Von D is set to debut a new vegan shoe line before the end of the year.
The star has already gained a strong following from the vegan community for her cruelty-free makeup range. This week, she teased the release of her own vegan shoe collection.
The new vegan shoe range will include 26 different styles, including some unisex shoes, and will be completely free of animal products and materials.
Von D revealed the news via her well-followed Instagram account, previewing one of the designs. The preview showed a red, faux leather platform shoe, in keeping with Von D’s image.
Writing about the release, she said: “My vegan shoe line is coming to life. The first round of prototypes just arrived to my house — here’s a tiny little sneak peek of one out of the 26 styles I’ll be launching with.
“I know how hard it is to find high-quality shoes with style that aren’t made from animal leather, fur, or use glues derived from horses and cows, and that you can afford. I’ve been working hard on getting these shoes perfect for you and hoping to launch the collection at the end of the year.”
The star, who has over six million Instagram followers, thanked both vegan and non-vegans for their patience in waiting for the vegan shoe collection to be released. She first teased the new venture in December and has since kept fans waiting for more information. It is rumoured that she is working in partnership with LA vegan brand Mink.
The vegan activist has been at the forefront of developing new products in the vegan cosmetics industry. Plus, towards the end of last year she raised $200,000 from sales to donate to benefit chimpanzees used in lab experiments.
Vegan fashion is a growing market, with the industry producing more and more innovative ways of creating fashion from non-animal-derived products.
