Jet2 announce new vegan in-flight meals

Jet2, the UK’s third largest airline has announced the launch of its new vegan meal available to buy on board. The airline announced the new menu amidst the number of consumers switching to a meat-free and plant-based diet, with the new menu accommodating to this.

As a result, Jet2 have added vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free logos to the dishes available, making it easier for customers to choose the appropriate food.

The vegan option is a penne Arrabbiata pasta dish, which is available on flights now.

Commenting on the new menu, Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays.com, said: “Customers constantly praise the extensive selection of food and drink on board our flights, therefore we are always looking at how we best keep up to date with current tastes and trends.”

He added: “In line with our ethos of delivering a VIP customer experience, we are always looking at how we offer a great choice for our customers on board.

“We have worked closely with our food suppliers to source a meal that is not only a delicious choice for our vegan customers, but is also a great meal option for everyone on our flights. We hope our customers enjoy the latest additions.”

Veganism continues to rise, and more people are looking to remove animal products from their lives for a number of reasons – this may be due to ethical, environmental or health reasons – but, as more people do so, all sectors must start to accommodating to this.

Some airlines already offer vegan options, but others are yet to keep up with the times and expand their offerings.
