IKEA Promote Earth Day with Plant Based Recipes

IKEA are promoting Earth Day that takes place on 22nd April with plant based recipes on their current newsletter. The recipes are also available to view on their website, with a green power juice, raw cashew cream and layered chia pudding, with plant based alternative ingredients listed instead of honey.

The newsletter email said: “Celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd with mouth-wateringly healthy recipes made from plant-based ingredients you can grow at home.” In recent months they have been promoting a more sustainable future to their customers, with indoor greenhouses, for example, to encourage people to grow their own vegetables.

Not only this, IKEA have recently been making sustainability a focal point for their brand with the announcement of a vegan hotdog being launched later in the year. The new hotdog is currently being tested in Mälmo, Sweden and it is expected to be in other locations around Europe by August.

The vegan hotdog is being introduced as a “greener version of an icon”, and rivals their meat products. In 2015 they introduced veggie meatballs, which are suitable for vegans as an alternative product to their iconic meat ones.
