German Company Develops a Vegan Gelatin Sheet

Gelita is the leading supplier of collagen-based proteins

The leading company for manufacturing and marketing collagen proteins has developed a vegan gelatin sheet.

The plant-based gelatine alternative is made from agar-agar, a seaweed-based jelly that up until now, has only been available in powder form.

Because of its high melting point, dishes made using agar-agar are able to maintain stability for longer, and as agar-agar is plant-based, it makes the perfect vegan and vegetarian substitute for animal-based gelatine. Coming in sheet form, this alternative also guarantees a defined and identical gelling strength, making it easier to use than its powder counterpart.
