Beyond Burger to be stocked by Tesco

Tesco has secured a deal to become the first UK stockist of the Beyond Burger. As reported previously, US creators Beyond Meat announced their partnership with distributors The Authentic Food Co. Now The Grocer have confirmed that retail giant Tesco will be stocking the burger from August.

Demand for the pea protein-based burger in the UK has been high, with Beyond Meat founder Seth Goldman revealing that they have received an influx of queries via their website from plant based Brits. “We have a section on our website for international enquiries, and most of them are coming from the UK.”

Unlike in the US, where the Beyond Burger is stocked as a fresh item alongside meat products, Tesco will stock it as a frozen item, due to the food safety standards involved in shipping. It is not yet known whether the supermarket will carry it alongside its frozen meat products, or sell it alongside the meat-free freezer items.

In recent months, Tesco has increased its vegan and plant based offerings, with their Wicked Kitchen range, created by chef Derek Sarno, having launched in January. For now, Beyond Meat only have international plans for the Beyond Burger, but with the brand recently launching a sausage line, it remains to be seen what other products could be launched in the UK in the future.

This is the perfect site for everyone who hopes to find out about this topic.
You realize a whole lot its almost tough to argue with you (not that I
really would want to…HaHa). You certainly put a fresh spin on a subject
that has been written about for many years. Great stuff, just excellent!
