Beyond Meat delayed the launch date of the Beyond Burger in the UK following a shortage in supply. The plant-based burger was set to reach Tesco stores at the beginning of August, however they couldn’t meet the demand and the launch was set back indefinitely.
The Grocer has reported that the product will now reach UK shelves this autumn, although a specific date has not been announced. The burgers are going to be priced at £5.50 for two patties, and placed in both the meat aisle and in freezer cabinets in 350 Tesco stores.
Beyond Meat’s business model targets people leading flexitarian diets primarily, with their products mimicking the taste and texture of meat. The burgers are entirely plant-based and suitable for vegans.
